On Sunday, the Executive Members of the Janjanbureh Foundation convened via an online WhatsApp call to discuss pressing issues impacting the foundation and the Janjanbureh community.


Welcome Remarks:

President Kekuta Jallow expressed gratitude to his colleagues for their participation and promptly initiated discussions on the agenda.


1. Town Waterway and Riverbank Protection:

The illegal encroachment on Janjanbureh's waterways was highlighted. Members suggested conducting feasibility studies and engaging in physical planning to enable effective action.


2. Ambulance:

The discussion focused on the recently donated ambulance to the Janjanbureh community. Omar Jatto Jammeh, an executive member and NAM for the Janjanbureh constituency, provided updates on steps taken to ensure the Ministry of Health assumes responsibility for the ambulance. The matter is currently before the National Assembly, awaiting the ministry's response.


In the interim, suggestions were made to hire a driver for the ambulance, provide a fixed salary, and allocate monthly fuel funds. Enquiries will be made to determine the appropriate salary for an ambulance driver.


Action Plan:

- Prepare a budget for the ambulance.

- Assign a team to work closely with the clinic for updates.


3. Mentorship Program for Youths:

A mentorship program focusing on information gathering and sharing was proposed to keep the community informed about local and broader societal issues. Lolly M. Camara will lead this project and report back to the Executive members as soon as possible.



Membership Registration and Contributions:

The President proposed a weekly contribution system and encouraged all members to ensure timely payments.


Short-Term Projects:

1. Milling Machine:

Vice President Sanna Sidibeh was tasked with following up on the provision of a milling machine and reporting back to the executive for immediate action.

2. Women's Garden:

The issue of the Women's garden was revisited, with plans to take action post-rainy season.


3. Rice Fields:

Members discussed strategies to support the community's rice fields.


Summer General Meeting:

Executives planned a summer general membership meeting to reconnect and raise funds for the foundation.


Corporate Hardship Fund:

The President emphasised the importance of a hardship fund to provide financial support to members in need, with repayments to be made at an agreed time.


Letter of Financial Support from Group Tinyansita:

A pledge of D35,000.00 was made, with the rate to be decided by the executives. The general membership will be informed accordingly.


Any Other Business (AOB):

1. Rice Fields Allocation:

Alieu raised concerns about the allocation process for the rice fields, stressing the need for transparency and fairness.

2. Next Meeting:

Another meeting is expected next month to follow up on discussed items.

The President thanked everyone for attending and expressed anticipation for their continued engagement.
